My favorite tire is the Maxxis Ignitor. It is great for all conditions but mud as this tire doesn’t shed mud well.

  4. January 28th, 2010 at 09:48 | #4

Maxxis Swamp Things – in 2.5 dual-ply super tacky – make this half of the year bearable. Hurrah for Swamp Things!

My favorite tire is the Halo Choirmaster 29×2.35, on the heavy side but rolls well, offers plenty of traction on every surface, very easy to control, excellent braking traction as well, works very well tubeless even though it’s not a tubeless tire, acts like a soft tail on hardtail frame!

Nothing like a contest to get people to come out of the woodworks.

I’m pretty fond of the panaracer rampage in 2.35, just as wide as some 2.5 out there without the weight penalty.

i could sure use a new set of tires

I like Specialized’s Eskar 2.3 for the front of my trail bike. It’s not too heavy and it hooks up real well once you roll over onto the corner knobs.

Still running the WTB Weirwolfs 2.3′s as my dedicated trail tire. Most predictable cornering and braking tire for the Humboldt county Norcal conditions. Even mount the 2.1′s for buffer cross-country race courses and super-D’s.

Conti Mountain King 2.4 29er. Good almost everywhere, works tubeless, sheds mud/debris like nobody’s business. These are my general purpose trail tires.

    January 28th, 2010 at 13:22 | #24

    WTB Weirwolf. :)

  25. January 28th, 2010 at 13:24 | #25

Alll time favorite is the Intense Intruder 2.5 FRO sticky rubber. This tire was a monster except on hardpack.
My right now favorite is dual minions dhf. 2.7 sticky/3c/slow rezaay up front and a 2.5 is a 60a compound out back. the 60 a helps braking bite and is more durable wear wise.

  26. January 28th, 2010 at 13:24 | #26

This won’t be a popular answer, but the best dry dusty DH tire ever made was the Nokian Gazzaloddi!

I’ve switched to Kenda Nevegals on both my XC and my DH bike.

ps. Don’t enter me in the drawing. I don’t need any tires.
