The Best Piece of Training Equipment You Haven’t Heard of Yet – RAMRoller for MTB Review and Free 30 Day Workout

I’ll admit that I am a more than a bit skeptical when it comes to new pieces of training equipment. Over two decades in the fitness industry will do that to you – rarely does something new do the job better than something we already have and even most “new” training tools are just rediscovery of old ones (the kettlebell being a great example).

Which is why I was so surprised when I got my hands on the RAMRoller.

The RAMRoller is a new take on something we already have…a weighted foam roller.

Well, actually, since it is made of 100% recycled rubber it isn’t technically a “foam” roller but most people are familiar with the term which is why I use it.

Anyways, like I said, the RAMRoller is a weighted roller (mine weighs 10 kg/ 22 pounds) and I’ve found it to be an excellent addition to my home gym.

First, it is a great roller and has become the one I use the most. Since it is made from recycled rubber it is a little denser than a foam roller without getting painful. It will last forever as well and is practically indestructible – it will be the last roller you’ll ever have to buy.

Second, the weighted design gives you a unique and effective training tool. It is kind of like a hybrid between a Sandbag and a Steel Mace/ Indian Club and gives you access to a lot of high-quality exercises…maybe more than any other training tool out there.

In fact, after using it for several months I consider the RAMRoller to be the best “swiss army knife” I’ve come across yet when it comes to training equipment – while it isn’t the best at any one thing it does so many things really, really well that it more than makes up for it.

Third, it is the only thing I need to travel with. Since it serves as a foam roller and a piece of strength training equipment I can throw it in the car and have everything I need when traveling. It is also perfect for taking to races since you can use it on the ground anywhere and you can use it to go through some weighted movements and get some key movement patterns warmed up.

Plus, it is fun to use and helps add a lot of variety and new challenges to you your workouts. I’ve really enjoyed using the RAMRoller and use mine all the time.

RAMroller Review

Over the last few days I’ve been posting some videos using a new training tool, the RAMroller made by RAMfit. It is a weighted roller (mine weighs 10 kg/ 22 pounds) and I’ve found it to be a great addition to my home gym.First, it is a great roller. Since it is made from recycled rubber it is a little denser than a foam roller without getting painful. It will last forever as well and never break down – it is literally the last roller you’ll ever have to buy.Second, the weighted design lets you get a great workout using it. It is kind of like a hybrid between a Sandbag and a Steel Mace/ Indian Club, giving you access to a lot of different exercises.I’ve really enjoyed using the RAMroller and would highly recommend it to anyone who is getting started with their home gym – you can literally get this one thing and have what you need to start training at home. I’d also recommend it to anyone who is looking for a unique and fun training tool to challenge them in some different ways.Right now they are also having a St. Patrick’s Day Sale where you can get any size/weight RAMroller for only $49.99 with free shipping (that's 33% off). You can find out more and get yours at http://www.ramfit.com/ramroller/.BTW, this isn’t an affiliate link or anything, I just really like the RAMroller and think it is a great training tool. Enjoy!

The RAMRoller is one of the few pieces of equipment to come out in the last several years that I feel genuinely adds something valuable to the training landscape. I’ve found it to be a fun and effective training tool and think it has a lot to offer mountain bikers who want to ride faster, longer and with more confidence on the trail.

Until next time…

Ride Strong,

Damn, I already bought a Triggerpoint foam roller a couple of months ago as both you as well as Ryan Leech recommend them. But now that I already have the foam roller, adjustable dumbbells and a kettlebell, am I not just already there (if I don’t need an all-in-one tool to travel with). Only thing missing might be a mace and I wouldn’t want to trow a dumbbell or kettlebell. But then again, you can’t use these ramrollers for kettlebell swings and a turkish get up, can you?
