MTB Strength Training Systems

Attention: Mountain bikers looking for the advantages and accountability of working with a coach dedicated to their success.

Mountain Biking’s Premier Strength & Conditioning Coach Can Now Be Your Personal Guide On The Road To Riding Faster, Longer & With More Confidence On The Trail.

Work with a world class coach to get the blueprint, support and accountability you need to achieve your riding goals.

Having a coach is one of the most valuable investments you can make in life. I can personally look back on some of my biggest breakthroughs on the trail, in my training and in my business and see the direct influence of a coach on them.

In fact, even though I’m a highly trained strength coach one of the best things I’ve ever done was pay for someone to coach me.

You see, a couple years ago I had reached a point that a lot of us reach one day. I knew what to do but I was having a hard time focusing my training on anything long enough to see results.

It was almost as if all the options I had were paralyzing me and I couldn’t decide on what to do for longer than a week or so. I’d start worrying that I was forgetting something or that the new exercise or workout program I had read about might be worth checking out.

This approach wasn’t working for two reasons. First, I wasn’t seeing very good results. Oh sure, I was doing alright but I knew that my training and results could be better. Too much unfocused variety with no purpose doesn’t really get you very far after a while.

Second, I was getting frustrated at myself and my inability to decide what to do. I was beginning to find myself wasting workouts some days because I couldn’t make up me mind about what to do.

So I decided to hire a coach to help get me back on track. I remembered an article I had read years ago about the power of “because coach said so” – which is the extra energy you can put into a workout when it is something that a coach told you to do – and I wanted to see what it was all about.

I hired a well known kettlebell expert to handle my training for me and we got together via Skype once a month for him to check my form and answer my questions. He’d then get me a workout and I’d check in each weekend.

And I found that the power of “because coach said so” was very real.

Why am I doing this leg exercise instead of that leg exercise this month?

Because coach said so.

Why am I doing this cardio workout instead of that cardio workout this month?

Because coach said so.

Just trusting that my coach had me on the right path gave me more mental energy to put into my workouts.

I also found the accountability to be very motivating as well. Knowing that I needed to check in each weekend with what I had done certainly got me into the gym more than once – I didn’t want to disappoint my coach or have to answer for why I hadn’t gotten my workout in.

The power of “because coach said so” combined with the accountability of having a coach keeping tabs on me resulted in some of the best training in my life and I ended up setting some records in the gym and riding very well on my bike.

Inspired by my time with my coach I decided to create a coaching service that would allow me to help riders who were in a similar situation and wanted to work with someone who understood firsthand how to balance strength training with riding.

Like I said, I found this time to be one of the most valuable investments in myself and my training and I knew that there were a lot of fellow mountain bikers were in the same boat but couldn’t make it to my facility.

For a long time the only way for me to personally work with a rider was to have them come to my facility in Grand Junction, CO, which severely limited the number of riders I would work with.

But now through my exclusive Distance Coaching Program I’ve developed some very effective ways of working with riders through email, Skype and video, which gives more riders the chance to work directly with me.

Now, I’ll admit that the main reason I am doing this is a selfish one – I really enjoy working directly with riders and “geeking out” on their specific situation and the best combination of mobility, strength and cardio training to help them get the absolute most out of their workouts.

I know that it makes me weird but I really love the feeling of coming up with just the right workouts for someone at just the right time. Pulling all of my knowledge together and seeing it come together into something that will help a fellow rider enjoy riding even more is a rush and I want more of it.

But the real winner here is you. Just imagine how much easier things will be when you don’t have to worry or wonder about the best thing to be doing with your rides and workouts.

With a personally designed program and access to me to have all your questions answered you’ll go into every ride and workout confident and with nothing to worry about but getting down to business. You’ll no longer worry about what the best thing for you to do to improve your riding is.

You’ll also see the fastest results possible since everything will be tailored for your goals.

Before you know it you’ll be riding through trail sections you’ve never ridden before and/ or hitting those tough sections with more speed and confidence than ever.

Now all of that may sound like a bold claim but it is one I can make because I have been producing results like this for my clients since 2005. As the creator of MTB Strength Training Systems I literally brought 21st century strength and conditioning to the mountain biking world and I’ve been in practically every mountain bike magazine and website that matters.

I’ve personally worked with hundreds of riders around the world, helping them achieve goals ranging from just getting into better shape so they can enjoy their weekend rides more to standing on the podium at a World Cup event.

I tell you this not to impress you but to impress upon you that I know what I’m doing. No matter what your goals are, odds are that over the last 10+ years I’ve helped someone with a similar situation and I can help you too.

I created this Distance Coaching option to allow me to make my high end coaching services available to anyone who is serious about their training program. When you join my exclusive Distance Coaching Program you will…

  • Take all the guesswork out of how to maximize your training and riding time.
  • Know what skills to be working on to speed your overall skill development.

Here is how it works…

While some programs thrive on complexity and keeping you confused during the process I believe that a simple approach executed with focus is the best way.

When you sign up for my Distance Coaching Program you will receive a detailed intake questionnaire for you to fill out and get back to me. After receiving your questionnaire we’ll schedule a Skype/ phone call to go over it and any follow up questions I may have.

Based on all of that I will put together a detailed 12 week training program that covers everything you need to see the fastest results possible. Your customized 12 week program will including:

  • Strength  Workouts based on your unique goals, limitations/ injuries, time and equipment available
  • Cardio Training based on the Energy Systems Development you need to fuel your strength and power
  • Skills Development Plan designed to help you dial in your trail skills and learn new ones
  • Mobility Drills that target your tightest areas to help you move with more efficiency on and off the bike
  • Weekly Training Plan so you know what to do on what days

After you receive your 12 week program we’ll set up another Skype/ phone call to go over it and answer any questions you may have. You will also get direct email access to me during the 12 weeks so I can personally answer any and questions that come up. Private Coaching clients get top priority from me and I usually respond to their questions within 24 hours.

At the end of your 12 week training program we’ll check in and see if we want to do another one…there is no long term commitments or hidden contracts. If you do want to work together on another 12 week training program we’ll just repeat the process.

Best of all, the cost for this level of personalized coaching is just 3 payments of $299 a month for the 12 week training program.

This makes high level, truly personalized coaching a reality for any rider who is serious about getting the absolute most out of their training program.

However, because my time and energy are limited I have to strictly limit these new Private Coaching roster spots. I want to make sure I am able to deliver the best experience – and results – possible and I don’t want to take on more riders than I can do that for.

For that reason I’ve got 3 roster spots open and after those last spots fill up I’ll have to start a waiting list.

Now you can hire me as your personal coach and get this level of coaching for 3 payments of $299 a month for a customized 12 week training program. Please remember that because I only work with riders who are serious about their training and dedicated to the process that I do require a 3 month commitment before I can accept you on my roster.

I need to know that you are committed to the process for a few months before I can accept you into the program.

This Private Coaching Program is not for every rider but for the rider who wants the best program possible to help them ride faster, longer and with more confidence on the trail it is the perfect solution.

Click the link below to register and get started today, but don’t wait…there are only 3 more roster spots available!

Remember that once the remaining spots are full I can’t take on any more clients. If you try to register and it says we are Out of Stock that means the roster is full and you can send an email to james@bikejames.com to be put on the waiting list.

Starting with my high school track coach, no one besides my parents have had a bigger role in shaping the person I am today than the coaches I’ve had the chance to work with.

A coach is so valuable because they’ve already achieved what you want to achieve and can show you the most direct path. They’ve often made a lot of mistakes along the way and know how to help you avoid them.

This both helps you avoid frustration and saves a lot of wasted time and energy.

A good coach also helps to balance out the tendencies that hold us back or lead to self-destruction. Some of us need a kick in the butt every once in while and some of us need to be told to dial it back a bit.

This makes having someone to tell you the right thing at the right time invaluable.

A coach has one job, which is to make sure that you become a better version of yourself. They’ve seen what is possible – both in their own lives and the people they’ve worked with before – and they know how to help you achieve it as well.

In my opinion, earning the title of coach is also one of the biggest compliments you can be paid. I’ve worked hard to earn that title with a lot of riders and take that position very seriously.

Some of my proudest moments have been celebrating victories with clients. From simply being able to ride pain free to standing on a World Cup podium, I’ve had the pleasure of helping riders achieve a huge range of riding goals.

And now I want to work directly with you to help you achieve your goals. If you’re ready to let me help you achieve your goals then just fill out and submit the application above to get the process started.

Ride Strong,

James Wilson
