    What’s the best post to ask flat pedal questions on? I hear everything you have been saying. But I’d like to ask… Do you place your feet on flat pedals differently? I mean do you pedal with the ball of your foot over the spindle, or do you have your foot more mid-foot on the pedal?

      Yes, you place your feet at a more mid-foot position on flats. You’ll find what feels right and comfortable, don’t overthink it too much. In fact, there are some people who are drilling out new holes for their cleats on their clipless pedal shoes to get them to sit more at the mid-foot instead of the forefoot.

    I’m going to be doing a few Xterra triathlons this year and the benefits of platform pedals would be great for faster transition times. I am concerned about not getting good grip though since trail or even road running shoes are very different from the FiveTen skater type shoes that seem to work best. Do you have much experience with running shoes on flat pedals? What do you think about the idea? I’ve yet to see any other Xterra riders on flat pedals but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not a good idea.

      As long as your shoes don’t get wet and you get a really good pair of flats you should be alright. You’ll have to give it a go and let me know how it goes.
