    Great review of the Hammerschmidt. I love mine and don’t think I could go back to the s*#t show that is the front derailure. It really is just a minor re-training of what gearing you should be using and it all comes together. I think of it the same way as my adjustable seatpost, climbing gear and desending gear. I do need to man up and put the 24/38 gearing on but so far no complaints either.

      Yeah, I have the 24-38 gearing which is why the overdrive was so tough to turn over. 38 teeth and some drag is tough to push through but once I just popped down it was way better. SO much easier to sprint up hills and over flat section and it saves my legs for pumping and technical trail moves.

    Howdy James,
    Good to hear more info on post workout drinks. I did order some Prograde after our discussion. Yuck. I found that I dreaded having to drink it after the workout, so I compromised… I put 1 scoop of Prograde into 8 ounces of fat free chocolate milk. Yummy. Now I look forward to finishing my workout and getting my treat. Thanks for the help getting ready for Whistler… 30 lbs lost, 12 workouts in, 12 days to Whistler.

    Oh, yeah, Roundtimer is a free app I have been using for timing the combo drills on my Iphone.

      I started to use about 4-5 ounces of water withe the ProGrade Workout, it is very lightly sweetened and I found that using too much water made it taste pretty “blah”. I really like it with just a bit of water, it tastes much better.

    Hey James
    Thanks for another great podcast. A couple of years ago after reading how important a post ride/exersize drink is my wife and I started making our own. We use high quality carb and protien powder and mix our own 2:1 ratio, usually in 500ml of water. I’m always amazed at how good it feels to drink this after a ride, it’s like my body craves it. Like you say it also works great during a hard workout.
