Time Crunched Mountain Bike Cardio: Countdowns

Here are two cool drills I used last month in my facility for some extra cardio at the end of the strength training sessions. These are a great way to get some cardio in if you only have a few minutes. They also work well for the time crunched mountain biker as stand alone workouts if you are really pressed for time but want to get something in.

  1. Cool video. I love body weight exercises and many people do not give body weight a chance. That said weights are also good for building strength especially kettle bells. I like the strength and cardio combination as it can be easy to focus on pure strength or pure cardio exercise but many people find it harder to combine cardio and strength. I plan to use more combination like this – although my primary cardio exercise is sprinting or hill sprints these take time. Such exercises as burpees combined with a jump provide a good workout especially when doing it in a pyramid type workout such as yours.

    Looks like a good routine. I was wondering if there was a ready period between sets or if you just go straight through?

      Just keep going, no rest between rungs of the ladder.
