While they tend to get overused in a lot of programs, plyometrics – essentially jumping drills – are a great way to build leg power. Perhaps no jumping exercise is better for the mountain biker than the Stagger Stance Jump Squat since the foot stance mimics how we stand on our pedals, however it can have a very steep learning curve.
One of my favorite aspects of the TRX is how it allows you to perform different jumping exercises in a safe and effective manner. By holding the handles so your can decrease the demand on the core you can maintain better core and leg position, allowing you to get more out of the exercise and avoid pain and injuries. In this video I show you how to perform a TRX Stagger Stance Jump Squat to improve your leg power in a safe and uniquely effective way.
